This is not a series of books one can read like a novel; the writings themselves deserve patience and contemplation: Meditations - 5/5 Golden Sayings - 4/5 Epictetus - 3/5 Letters from a Stoic - 3/5 The Enchiridon - 4/5 Overall, great overview of Stoic teachings and values/5(10). The wording was awkward, and phrasing often confusing or difficult to understand. This particular book was the third version of the Discourses I purchased, and I was delighted to find it understandable and enjoyable reading. You also get the complete works of Epictetus (The Discourses, Enchiridion, and Fragments), a nice bonus.
